Louisiana Children's Museum
Julia Street
New Orleans, Louisiana
While driving I-10, stop in New Orleans to stretch your legs along Julia Street. Lined with art galleries, this area is a great pitstop to spend just a short time, or several hours. A good place to park is in the pay lot behind the Arthur Roger Gallery. Stop in to see the current exhibits and then head over to the Louisiana Children’s Museum (right next door). And if you are still up for learning more about Southern art and culture, head down a few blocks to the Ogden.
Content suggested (and borrowed with permission) from Lucia at Dim Sum, Bagels, and Crawfish. Look for more of her pitstop suggestions to be featured here.
Distance off the interstate: Just a few miles.
Bathrooms: The best bet is likely in the children’s museum.
Directions: (to Louisiana Children’s Museum): From I-10, take a slight right at I-10 E (4.9 mi), then a slight right at US-90 S (signs for US-90/Claiborne Ave/US-90 Bus). Take exit 11A toward S Peters St/Tchoupitoulas St (0.3 mi), then a slight left at Calliope St. Take a sharp left at Tchoupitoulas St (0.4 mi), right on St Joseph St, left on Commerce St, then left at Julia St.

Hi Amy,
Thanks for posting this. So excited about this blog! Perfect timing for summer road trips. I’ll try to submit some more recent pitstops and I’ll spread the word to other traveling families.
Lucia
I’m grateful for your wealth of knowledge on Southern pitstops! Thanks Lucia!
