Passports with Purpose

Pitstops for Kids! is excited to be participating this holiday season in Passports with Purpose!

What is Passports with Purpose? It’s a fundraising effort begun by travel blogs Delicious Baby, Wanderlust and Lipstick, WanderMom, and Nerd’s Eye View. Last year, Passports with Purpose raised over 7000 US dollars for Heifer International.

This year, we’re supporting American Assistance for Cambodia (AAfC) an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving opportunities for the youth and rural poor in Cambodia.

Raising $13,000 will build a school in rural Cambodia. I’ve never been to Cambodia, but I know the needs of our local schools, and I know the needs of kids, and I’m inclined to believe that both are the same the world over. Locally, we bemoan budget cuts and loss of extracurriculars, but the fact is, rural Cambodian kids are facing the lack of school buildings altogether. Together, we can change that.

Here’s how it works: Travel bloggers from around the world (including Pitstops for Kids!) have procured prizes in support of this fundraising effort. Beginning today, November 30th, you will be able to see a list of prizes on the Passports With Purpose website, and each one will link back to a full description of the prizes on the blogger’s website.

For each $10 in donations that you make to AAfC, you will be entered to win a prize (or prizes) of your choice. Which prizes are up to you; place all your $10 credits on one item, or spread them out among several! The fundraiser begins today and closes on December 21. All proceeds go directly to AAfC.

So what prize has Pitstops for Kids procured? A Prism Portable Digital TV, perfect for travel, generously donated to Pitstops for Kids by The Office Depot!

Prism 7 inch Portable Digital TV

Prism 7" Portable Digital TV

I recently tried out and reviewed the Prism myself and found it to be an awesome addition to our travel arsenal. It has a 7 screen and includes an antenna, remote control, AC wall adaptor, car charger, and A/V cable. It’s completely portable with a built-in rechargeable battery. Its built-in ATSC tuner receives all digital TV broadcasts. It’s valued at $99.99, and I’ll ship it free anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.

So if you’d like a Prism Digital TV of your own, consider donating to Passports with Purpose, and placing your $10 entries on Pitstops for Kids’ prize! Or, check out the list of other prizes that have been procured, and spread out your contribution! You may come away with more than one great travel item, and 100% of your donation goes to a 501 (c)(3) charity!

Last but not least, if you’re a travel blogger participating in Passports with Purpose, add the link to your prize post below!

  1. That looks like an excellent bit of gear to keep the kids happy. My #Pwp prize is a Flip Camera

  2. I’ve never traveled with a TV, but it does sound pretty relaxing from a parental perspective.

  3. Phil says:

Great site and what a very commendable programme Pit Stop for Kids is – Wish these TV’s were around when my kids were young – would have stopped a load of hassle.
