About

About Pit Stops for Kids:

If you travel with kids, you know that we all find ourselves spending a bit more ‘quality’ time in the car and in airports with our children than we’d like, usually in unfamiliar territory while wondering, “Where’s the best place to stop? Is there a kid-friendly option? Anywhere welcoming I can relax with my kids for fifteen minutes (or however long it takes to regain my sanity)?”

And the thing is, someone out there knows. Maybe you. Maybe you’ve driven a particular stretch of road to Grandma’s house  more times than you can count, and could tell me exactly where to stop for the coolest museum or the most interesting road-side attraction. Or maybe you’re planning a long road trip through several unfamiliar states and this is exactly the type of information you need. Pit Stops for Kids is a place to share your reviews of the places you’ve stopped along the way (whether you’ve been there once or one hundred times), and to take advantage of the experience and information other parents have to offer.

And as the editors of Pit Stops for Kids, we’ll do our part, as well. In addition to providing our own favorite pit stops, we feature travel product and experience advice, city and road trip series, pre-planned itineraries, and family resort and attraction reviews as parents who have been there, done that in over 35 states and dozens of countries.

After all, Pit Stops for Kids isn’t just about the destination. It’s about getting there. Take a moment to look around, read some reviews, submit your own, and when the time comes, have a great trip!

About Amy Whitley (founder and West Coast editor): Amy has been a writer and editor in the travel industry since 1998. Since having children of her own, the travel bug stuck. Based in Oregon, Amy travels extensively with her three sons, who especially enjoy outdoor and adventure family travel. Since creating Pit Stops for Kids, she’s been featured regularly in print and online travel publications, and writes weekly at Practical Travel Gear. More importantly, she’s a pro at folding just about any brand of stroller, finding wet wipes at a moment’s notice, and stuffing a week’s worth of laundry into one suitcase. (Oh, and she hasn’t had a moment’s peace on an airplane in the past decade.) amy(at)pitstopsforkids(dot)com

About Kate Lepore (East Coast editor): After achieving her Ph.D in Oceanography, Kate put her career on-hold after the birth of her son and daughter. Making her home in Massachusetts, Kate is the master of traveling with two kids under age 3. Having lived abroad in Dublin, Ireland, she’s had plenty of practice at soothing babies on international flights, traveling cross-continent with two kids in diapers, and flying solo with her children. Kate’s an old hand at scheduling naps on the road, settling a baby in any type of sling (usually while opening a juice box for her toddler), and is always game for the next adventure, whether in her own backyard or halfway across the world. kate(at)pitstopsforkids(dot)com
